Faster than sound

Jem Finer

An artist and musician, Jem Finer works in a diverse range of fields, including sculpture, music, film, performance, installation and photography. He performs both solo with guitars, various sound sources and computer, and in various groups and collaborations, among them the DM Bob and Country Jem, Monk, in which the Middle Ages collide with the 21st century, and Big Eyed Beans from Venus, a band formed with members of the Oxford Astrophysics department. Recent and ongoing work
includes Longplayer, a 1000-year-long composition that started to play on 1 January 2000 and Score for a Hole in the Ground, a sonic sculpture in Kings Wood, Kent, completed in September 2006.
