East Side Story is a half-hour looped slide show of 35mm images with an original non-sync audio accompaniment. The soundtrack combines field recording, archive material and garden shed experiments made near to the Bentwaters runway between 1987 and 2002. The images are from a collection of photographs exploring the strange relationship between the Suffolk Coastal landscape and its unusual and often abandoned structures. This new work is a reflection on growing up in the 1970s and 1980s surrounded by sinister military activity and the menace of nuclear weapons.
