Brian Duffy is a conceptual artist and NESTA fellow, whose work involves live performance/installations/original music composition/and the creation of new musical instruments. Central themes in the work explore the limits of human sense data and the notion of perceptual habit. This work reveals the hidden world around us, by utilising modified and self built apparatus.
Brian’s previous work has included the Optophonic Lunaphone: A new musical instrument that uses six specially adapted telescopes; sensors built into the eye pieces convert the light from stars into sound – this information returns to a central control panel, allowing each sound to be manipulated and played in real time.
Brian Duffy is the founder of the experimental group, Modified Toy Orchestra and was a part of Faster Than Sound Game in 2012 performing with Richard and Modified Toy Orchestra alongside a small chamber ensemble in a set of brand new commissions.
