Under development as part of a Faster Than Sound:LAB project for children and computer mice, Mira Calix and Memo Akten’s new composition draws inspiration from Ligeti’s La Poème Symphonique for 100 metronomes and Varèse’s La Poème Electronique. Using a computer game to generate its musical material, rhythmic mouse clicks of the performers are amplified, mixed and diffused, mimicking Ligeti’s iconic original. The composers are joined by a group of young people to present work in progress.
