Oliver Coates

Oliver Coates is a cellist and an Artist in Residence at Southbank Centre in London.  He plays as principal cello in Aurora Orchestra and as a guest principal in the London Sinfonietta.  He is an associate of the Royal Academy of Music.  He curates Harmonic Series at Southbank Centre, which this year features James Blake, Seb Rochford, Emily Hall, Alice Grant, Aldeburgh Young Musicians, Netia Jones, gameshow outpatient and Larry Goves.  At the moment he particularly enjoys playing solo cello music by Bach and is looking forward to the premiere of Life Cycle on March 13th in the Purcell Room, a staged song cycle for voice, cello and piano, written by Emily Hall and Toby Litt, sung by Mara Carlyle. www.olivercoates.com
