Tom Creed is Festival Director of Cork Midsummer Festival. Previously he has been co-founder and joint Artistic Director of Playgroup, Associate Director of Rough Magic Theatre Company and Theatre and Dance Curator of Kilkenny Arts Festival. He studied English and Philosophy at UCC, and trained as a director on Rough Magic Theatre Company’s SEEDS programme and at the National Theatre Studio, London. His extensive work as a director includes: TRADE by Mark O’’Halloran (Thisispopbaby, Dublin Theatre Festival 2011); Watt by Samuel Beckett with Barry McGovern (Gate Theatre, Dublin Theatre Festival 2010, Under The Radar 2011 at the Public Theater, New York, and US Tour); Berlin Love Tour (Dublin Fringe Festival 2010); and Una Santa Oscura, a music theatre performance for solo violinist by Ian Wilson (Project Arts Centre and Dublin Theatre Festival 2010). He was nominated for Best Director at the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards 2007 for Attempts on her Life (Rough Magic, Project Arts Centre). He was a participant on the 2010-11 Jerwood Opera Writing Programme at Aldeburgh Music, served on the Board of Dublin Fringe Festival from 2006 to 2011, and has recently joined the board of Macnas.
